UTD honor student dies just prior to graduation

Joseph Edwin Alexander passed away Dec. 8, 2003, in his home two weeks before he was to graduate summa cum laude as a UTD business administration major.

Alexander was 53 when he returned to school two years ago to become a full-time business student and add to his previous education.

Born Sept. 14, 1950, in Fort Worth, Alexander graduated from Castleberry High School in 1968, attended Texas Christian University and graduated from Tarrant County College in 1992.

After moving to Plano in 1995, Alexander was an active member of Institute of Electrical and

Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Computer Society and was an officer and lifetime member of International Golden Key Honor Society and Sigma Alpha Lambda. Alexander was also a master Mason and an endowed member at Tarrant Lodge #942.

A man of science and faith, Alexander was looking forward to the birth of his first grandchild this summer. He enjoyed reading and was proud of the books he has written with his son, Geoffrey.

He is survived by his wife, Rhonda; children Joseph, Mischele, and Geoffrey; his mother, Dorothy, and father, Joseph, Sr.
