<strong>Top UTD athletes honored at banquet</strong>
Senior right-handed pitcher Tony Adler and senior first baseman Candace Felts were named UTD male and female athletes of the year at the annual Comets Sports Banquet April 25.
Also recognized were the MVPs and Comet Award recipients from each varsity team, as follows:
Soccer: Men – Ali Morshedi and David Martin; Women – Katie Johnson and Robyn Martin;
Cross-country: Men – Paul Burt and Kevin Chen; Women – Chara Price and Alyssa McMenamy;
Basketball: Men- Jason Malone and Brian Burton/Eric Chatham; Women – Crystal Pope and Jennifer Longoria;
Golf: Men – Scott Maurer and Peyton Cook; Women – Caroline Butler and Ashley Hutto;
Tennis: Men – Kevin Durten and Kosta Dombrovskey; Women – Andrea Hidalgo and Cassidy Acuff;
Baseball – Lawrence Valbuena and Mike Biguenet;
Softball – Shaunna Lawrence and Candace Verstuyft.
<strong>Comets selected for All-academic team</strong>
Nineteen UTD lettermen were named to the American Southwest Conference All-academic team.
The student-athletes must be in at least their second year and have a career GPA of 3.00 or better to qualify. The honorees were:
Baseball players Caleb Chandler, Ryan Hellen, Fielding Lewis, Rob Spencer and Joe Wollscheid;
Softball players Sarah Ardlt and Stephanie Herrera;
Men’s golfers Peyton Cook, Field Harrison and Scott Maurer;
Women’s golfer Caroline Butler;
Men’s tennis players Kosta Dombrovskey, Kevin Durten, Phong Le and Roby Martin;
Women’s tennis players Cassidy Acuff, Leslie Chen, Andrea Hidalgo and Katie Roberts-Hoffmann.
