Forward Kyle Schleigh was named the ASC Male Athlete of the Year in a statement released by the league office on Wednesday. Schleigh, who was also named the male UTD Student Athlete of the Year, was named as the ASC male basketball player of the year as well. He was also the first Comet to play in the Reese’s All-Star Game. This is the first time that a UTD athlete, male or female, has won this award. Schleigh ended his career as UTD’s all-time leader in points, field goals, field goal attempts, free throws, free throw attempts, rebounds, rebounds per game, steals, blocked shots and minutes played. He is also just the third basketball player in conference history to earn male athlete of the year honors.
