Vianna to perform classical guitar
Renowned clasical guitarist Aliéksy Vianna will perform at 8 p.m. on Feb. 20 in the Jonsson Performance Hall.
A diverse musician, Vianna is celebrated for his classical guitar solos and his stunning proficiency in concerti, chamber works, jazz and Brazilian music.
Vianna was born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, and is a graduate of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
He has performed in prestigious music venues in more than 15 countries throughout Europe, North and South America, including New York City’s Carnegie Hall.
He won the 2003 International Guitar Festival in Rust, Austria.
Singers and jazz band perform hits
The UTD Chamber Singers and Jazz Band will join forces for a collaborative performance of Broadway pieces at 8 p.m. Feb. 27 in the University Theater.
For the fifth year in a row, the two groups will come together for an evening of Broadway hits.
The UTD Chamber Singers is directed by Associate Dean of Arts & Humanities and Senior Lecturer Kathryn Evans and the UTD Jazz Band is directed by Kelly Durbin.
The event will include many showtime favorites from George Gershwin, Cole Porter and Richard Rodgers.
