Alumni offer free class rings

Two years after the release of the UTD class ring, the alumni association has plans to reward three student leaders with free rings.

The 2004 Ring Award Program, sponsored by the UTD Alumni Association, looks to congratulate three students for their successes in the classroom and positive impact on the Richardson area, according to Charles Salomon, a developmental officer in university advancement.

To be eligible, students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and have completed at least 75 credit hours, including 15 at UTD. Additionally, students must not already have purchased a ring, since the award is a ring and not the cash equivalent, Salomon said.

Nominations of eligible students may come from UTD deans, faculty members, administrators, staff and alumni.

The faculty recommendations should be submitted by Jan. 23 to the Advancement Office.

The Ring Award Committee will forward application packages to the nominees; completed applications are due Feb. 6.

The rings will be awarded April 21 at a Ring Presentation Ceremony.
