On June 1, UTD reopened the McDermott Library more than 14 months after closing it due to the pandemic.

The library is now open on a limited basis. According to its website, the building will now be open seven days a week. Operating hours depend on the day of the week and can be found on the library website. Approximately 200 seats are available for use on the second floor, and the third floor Special Collections are also open on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

While the third and fourth floor study rooms and main stacks areas remain closed, the library intends to resume full services for the fall semester. In the meantime, students who need materials from the main stacks can request them via the library catalog for pickup at the Circulation Desk.

The library’s contactless curbside pickup service, which began in July 2020, has ended with the reopening of the building.
