Developing story: The Mercury has reached out to Martín, the City of Richardson Fire Department and university officials for more information and will update this article as additional information becomes available.
The following information was provided in campuswide communications sent by UT Dallas administration.
On Sunday, May 31, Rafael Martín, vice president for administration and chief of operations, sent a campuswide communication stating that a small fire was reported in the Edith O’Donnell Arts & Technology Building around 7 p.m.

According to the communication, the City of Richardson Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported.
The ATC building was closed on Monday, June 1, following a fire and resulting water damage. Martín sent another communication June 1 stating the ATC building would reopen June 2, though some offices on the first floor will remain closed as cleanup continues.
The communication instructed staff members with offices on the first floor to “check with their supervisors regarding working arrangements.”
Classes in the ATC building will resume regular operations beginning Tuesday, June 2.
