“Summer Vacation”

to start in February

Directed by award-winning artistic director Terry Martin, “Betty’s Summer Vacation” will make its regional premiere at UTD in the University Theatre Feb. 6-8 and Feb. 13-15.

Written by Christopher Durang, this black comedy tells about America’s unquenchable appetite for scandal and reality television featuring murder, mutilation and charades.

The main character, Betty, is on a quest for the ultimate summer vacation but instead uncovers the darker side of the other summer renters.

Friday and Saturday performances begin at 8 p.m., and Sunday matinees start at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for students of other schools, $15 for adults and free at the door for UTD students with a Comet Card.

Durbin & Friends

slated for Feb. 13

“Kelly Durbin & Friends” will perform in a jazz concert at 8 p.m., Feb. 13 in the University Theatre.

The ensemble will feature jazz pianist and UTD faculty member Kelly Durbin who directs the jazz ensemble and teaches music theory, MIDI, jazz history and jazz keyboard.

The group also includes jazz bassist James Gilyard, saxophonist Karl Lampman, drummer Dennis Durick and vocalist Peggy Lauren.

Tickets for the concert are $10 for adults and $5 for students.
