Dean of Students Darrelene Rachavong has been named interim vice president of Student Affairs in the wake of Mary Sias’ acceptance of the presidency at Kentucky State University.
“I’m very pleased with the opportunity to serve the university and the students,” Rachavong said. “I feel honored that Dr. Jenifer has the confidence in me to give me the chance to lead this department.”
In her new role, Rachavong will be responsible for overseeing all issues affecting current and prospective students.
“I feel comfortable that Dr. Rachavong will have an extraordinary
tenure in the interim position,” said President Franklyn Jenifer, who named Rachavong to the position March 17.
The move will take effect one day after Sias officially resigns which is expected within the next few weeks, Jenifer said.
