Kappa Sigma staked its claim as the best volleyball-playing organization, winning three intramural titles.

Waterview Building 53 outlasted the other first-year competition to win the freshman crown.

More than 50 teams participated in the tournament that ended Feb. 6.

“We’re really pleased with how everything went,” said Director of Recreational Sports Damon Enriquez.

Approximately half of the registered teams advanced to the playoffs and ultimately produced a winner in each of the four categories.

The championship round pitted the top two contenders in each division in a best-of-three matchup.

In the co-rec category, Kappa Sigma China Town took first place, trumping Got ’em coach 10-21, 21-6, 21-14.

Kappa Sigma Top Shelf needed overtime to win in the men’s division. Top Shelf topped the D-Chemists 19-21, 21-12, 25-23.

Kappa Sigma Acers won by default when the Killer Bees II forfeited.

“We had a bigger turnout than expected and we even had to move the dates, which we’re sorry for, but it turned out better in the long run and everyone enjoyed themselves,” Enriquez said.
